My Response to Android Marketplace Comments

Currently, on the Android Marketplace (My App) a developer cannot directly reply to a user who leaves a comment. This can be frustrating to a developer, for both positive comments and negative comments. When my users tell me how they love my app or how it improves their quality of life it really makes me super happy... unfortunately though there is no way for me to directly thank that user.

Conversely, if a user is experiencing an issue and they only leave a comment there is no way for me to inquire further so that I may possibly help them. It seems that most comments that involve an issue end up with the user declaring that they just uninstalled the app.

So with that said, I have decided to start a post where I will quote the comment as I get it and respond. Hopefully this will help :) Do not hesitate to leave a comment below!

This user is amazing! They had an issue and emailed me for help. We were able to isolate and 'fix' the issue in a very short time frame. Thank you! Also, thank you very much for all your assistance with my questions ;)

Screwed up now Loved it til today, when I learned that it sent a a wrong message and also failed to reply half of the time. It cost me money due to its failure.

Trica! I am sorry you had problems... what you describe is not good! I am thinking that maybe there is a possibility that you neglected to make sure you have the proper auto response set as active.


As for failing to respond... sometimes there is an issue with sending an SMS message. This is because the device gets 'clogged' up with incoming and/or outgoing messages and will time out if the pending message takes too long. You can personally make this happen by having someone send you a couple of text messages and then at the same time sending yourself some text messages. You will see some of these messages fail. This is what is happening here. I have incorporated methods to keep retrying to send the message but if after five tries it is still failing then it should notify you of the error. If this is not the case I need to know so that I can correct that.

Edrik contacted me and found that there was an issue where GO SMS PRO is blocking SMS Text Auto Responder from receiving the incoming text messages.
